Year 5 & 6 South Downs Adventure – Thursday 19th March 2026

An unforgettable day of exploration and discovery on the South Downs!

Year 5 and 6 pupils will embark on an exciting geographical adventure, tracking the River Hamble from its source and conquering the summit of Old Winchester Hill. This hands-on experience will bring our Geography curriculum to life as we learn about mountains and rivers in the most spectacular classroom of all – God’s beautiful creation!

What will we do?

  • Locate and explore the source of the River Hamble
  • Hike to the summit of Old Winchester Hill
  • Take in breath-taking views and observe the landscape from the top
  • Put our map reading skills into practice
  • Sketch the natural world around us, building on our art learning

This trip perfectly combines our Geography and Art curricula, giving pupils a real-world context for their classroom learning and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Timing: Normal school day timings apply
